I'm looking for an (affordable) scan tool. A couple I have found are the Auto-Tap (http://www.autotap.com/scantool_selection_guide.html) and the Kal OBD II System Tester-KM9615 (http://www.actron.com/cgi-bin/web_store.cgi?page=km9615.htm&cart_id=5293273_29504). Any real world experience out there on these OR other reccomendations? Thanks!

BobW,

Here is a link to a previous thread discussing AutoTap:

My post in that thread has additional links on the subject. You may want to try a forum search for even more posts. :D

That's kinda expensive. Check out www.obd-2.com

I have that scanner and it works fine. The software is kinda crappy, but it's functional once you get used to it.

Bob, I too was looking for an OBDII reader and found an Equus 3100 code reader for about 145.00 at: www.jeepersandcreepers.com

Has anybody tried the AutoXray? They now have upgraded it for 2002 and have a PC Link kit to do about the same thing as Autotap for the same price. The beauty of the AutoXray is that you do not HAVE to have a PC to use it and it comes with pre-1996 OBD-I as well as OBD-II software so that you can use it on any vehicle year. Autotap only comes with OBD-II
