found some grit material at bottom of canister, also filter had a bit of grit on outside, filter completly black in color, no rust on inside of canister, to me it was due for a change, but seen no improvement on gtech, done before and after, please give replys on what the exsperienced have to say, thanks fred

The filter element looks completely used. Probably should be changing at 10K miles. Cut next filter open after 10K miles and see where you're at.

On the positive side, the inside of your filter can looks pretty clean (from what I can see in the picture). No rust or anything like that.

There's just no way....no way I could go that long without a filter change. :eek: Where do you get your fuel?

i have a few questions then, i run a fleet of 7 desiel motors on my farm,any where from 65hp to 500hp, cummins detroit, john deer i usally only change fuel filters when i notice a hp problem,or every second oil change(400to 450 hours on some) i checked a few of the filters from them, and they seam to be the same micron sise,as the duramax, a couple have a fuel and water seperator filter, i think in my 25 years of farming i maybe went threw one or two injectors, so is the duramax injector more suseptable to damage than the others, and why is it that my service manager says it is not that big of a thing to run that many miles on a filter,(700hr) he has seen very few problems with that, also does the filter break open when it is used up on these things, all my farm motors just start to give up in power, from the restriction of the filter, if they get that bad, also as you can see no rust as others reported they had, does this imply no water in fuel

I just had my fuel filter changed by the dealer two days ago. It was just over 25,000 miles. I asked him if they have had any injector failures. He said they have had only 6 bad injectors ever, and the 6 were from two different trucks. Both truck owners knew they got a bad batch of fuel, one from a farm tank, and one from a small town Kwicky Mart style place. I'm beginning to wonder if this dirty fuel thing is regional...

was their a problem that was occouring that you changed thefilter, or just thought it was time

i have mixed veiws as well over fuel filtration

the filter i replaced it with is a wix filter 33810, any problems with using this filter it had cost me 7 dollars at my local farm shop

take it from me, at 131,000 miles, I WISH I would have bought a 2nd fuel filter from "jim" www.kennedydiesel.com (http://www.kennedydiesel.com) long ago.

I will be buying one this next week. It's never too late.

I change out my OEM fuel filter like church every 10,000 miles. Here I am 30 months later getting injectors (I know, bad fuel, but this would NOT have happened with proper filtration I believe).

30K with a filter = sell your truck at 75K or get ready for a service bill. :(

from that reply it looks to be the filter is garbage, does not help to change at 10k or even 5k, just change the whole system out to a completly different one, and be done

i only once have had a truck over 100k, as my personal truck and that was a gas, it ended up nickle and diming me to dealth, since then i try to replace before 120k
