Has anybody had this? It only happens at idle and only sometime. Can't really pinpoint it that much and it's not very load but yet noticable. All I can say for sure is it's from under the hood. Doesn't seem like a performance related thing - truck still runs fine but it's annoying.

Belts?
Bearing?
Any ideas??

Forgot to add. Truck has 10,000 miles on it....

I think after reading some of the posts on 'ticking' this might be what I have. I have all the attributes of the problem - to me it sounds more like a ringing though...

I had a ringing noise in my '01 3500 and figured it was a heat shield vibrating somewhere. But, at 26K miles I started hearing a squeak at start up. Took it in and the tensioner had to be replaced(warranty), they also replaced the belt. Anyways, now there is no ringing. Coincedence? I dunno, but a place to start. BTW, they had to do a SPAT case to get the part. It took 2.5 weeks to get the tensioner from Mexico...don't leave your truck unless they have the part.
