I got my Isspro gauges (thanks JK) and installed them (thanks MP) on Saturday. I am trying to get a base line for what the truck does stock before I put the Juice on permenantly. I have pulled a tad over 1300 and 21 lbs of boost. What kind of numbers are you people getting with and without the Juice? The Juice goes on Wed. I want to pull one of the 5 mile 7% grade passes first to see what it does. If it goes to 1400, I'll run it there all day. I have done it for 74,724 miles so far and the heads are still there. Just curious what you guys are getting for numbers. I would like heavy towing numbers. Don't care about running stoplight to stoplight empty. Thanks.

Maverick,

The max boost and EGT I've seen (stock) were 22 psi and 1186*F, unloaded with spirited driving. Manifold EGT location and boost sensor tapped into wastegate line (pre-intercooler).

My numbers were not higher pulling 9K in 35-45 mph winds. It will interesting to see what you see with the HEAVY loads you pull...

More Power posted that a manufacturer of Dmax power products let a Dmax run on a dyno during lunch at 1400* without apparent engine problems:

It has to breath...

My first suggestion is always airflow and instrumentation. Most power modules are tested to be relatively safe, but additional airflow is the key to a happy engine!

Translation:

You need a 4" exhaust. More so than most of us. ;)

I installed my pyrometer probe downstream from the turbo so my numbers are going to be a little different from yours. I often gross out a little above 28,000 pounds. Running wide open near 3,000 rpm the egt will often climb to 950 degrees. I have seen it go to 1,000 degress a few times. As rpm drops, apparently the engine de-fuels because the temps and the boost will go down also. The boost will go to 23 psi measured at the wastegate. My pickup is a 2001 model and it totally stock.

I have installed the gauges in the same locations as MP has done in his install article.
I have a BD 4" exhaust on order when ever they decide to finish it. I would get a JK exhaust but we both agreed $250 freight for a $500 system is not feasible. For a temporary fix (or maybe permanent), would it help to straight pipe it? I would think it would exhale a little easier. Thanks for the come backs so far. Need more.

numbers,numbers,numbers

Lets test gauges and probes and see how accurate they are and how the brands compare to each other in accuracy..

I have seem 1425 degrees at manifold pulling nothing w/juice.

1200 degrees, pre turbo (same pyro location as Mdrag and Hoot), 850 post turbo, same day, same gauge, two different probes (dual probes, switched input). This was last Saturday, empty, beating the snot out of the truck, ambient air temp @ 90-92 degrees, with the Dynomite set at 100%. I can post my towing numbers next Monday, as I'll be pulling trailer (7-7500 LBS).

Just a note- I see anywhere from 0 degrees difference to 400 degrees difference when comparing pre to post turbo temp readings....

I get around 1300 under hard up hill throttle, truck empty propane off. It take a bit to get there but it does. With propane on she'll go a little higher. Sometimes close to 1400. My pyro is in the exhaust manifold.

Under hard accelleration on flat surface, no propane, it stays below 1200.

The highest I have seen was a little over 1100 but only for a second in third gear going up a slight incline with the pedal on the floor. My boost was about 27 PSI. This is with the Juice in level 4, a Banks 4" exhaust, and a K&N Air Charger kit. Before the Juice I was seeing a max of about 850 and 25 PSI. My EGT probe is in the passenger side manifold and boost line is post intercooler in the cast aluminum housing going into the engine.

I have the Diesel Dynamics gauge set up in my truck. The gauges are Autometer. The Pyro installs on the driverside 3-4" up the Pre turbo tube. Under heavy loads (10-11K lbs, 4 miles up a 9% grade this past week) I saw 21-22lbs boost and 1180-1200 EGT's.

Hope this helps.

Thanks to all that replied so far. It is wierd seeing the different temps in the same locations. Why is there such a variance? Are all gauges that far off one another? Makes me wonder how accurate my gauges really are. I'll post my findings tomorrow on the big pass.

Just installed Autometer carbons. EGT probe in pass. manifold.
Stock 'cept for swiss airbox. Max psi I've seen is 23. Max EGT has been 1150 (empty/unloaded).
At 70mph cruise its 700degrees with 4psi.
