Code Question

I have been having trany issues lately, so today I had Autozone read the codes for me?

Well the code read showed one code listed as P0251 Injection Pump Fuel Metering Control "A" Malfunction (Cam/Rotor/Injector).

I thought the 6.5TD codes were DTC XXX not P0251.

I tried to see if the code was listed here, but the page won't display.

Does anyone know what it means.

On a side note today while backing up a hill my truck died once kinda like the clutch was letout to quick like on on a gasser. It restarted right away.

I have about 56K miles (truck has about 155K miles on it)on a complete new pump and FSD under the extended warrenty.

I think its a first signs of the FSD going out.

I got that link fixed....

GM made the transition to OBD II in the 1996 model year, and introduced a new code system. Prior year vehicles were OBD I (on-board diagnostics - level one).

P0251 Injection Pump Cam System

According to the data sheet, this code means the PCM detected a fault during first ignition cycle and should set both this DTC code and should have turned on the MIL/SES lamp.

This code should not have anything to do with the transmission.

Check the injection system wiring harnesses for abraded wiring, loose connectors, etc.
