View Full Version : Oil Change
Can someone tell me if there is any advantage to changing engine oil hot? I usually change mine hot but don't know if it would be OK to let it cool down first.

I always change my oil hot. I feel you get more of the old oil out. If it's cold you would have to drain it for hours. My thoughts anyway. tpitt

If the oil is hot or rather warm then hopefully the most amount of contaminates will be in suspension and will drain out. The warm out temds to drain faster, thus less time for dirt to settle out of oil.
