Towing 16,000#s this summer caused the engine fan to engage quite often even on flat ground due to the high temps. When that fan engages at high rpm the noise is unbelievable. Has anyone looked into some type of electric fan that could go in front of the radiator to provide additional cooling?
Thanks

I think there has been a few discusions on that .
Consensus is that the electric fans wouldn't pull enough air . The stock fan can pull alot of air when needed , hence alot of noise. All one can do is turn the radio up...

Flex-a-lite has replacement electric fans that pull some serious air...5800 cfm. A friend of mine has this fan set up on his 5.3 and it works great. On the dyno it gave him 16 rear wheel horsepower. I Contacted them and they said they are working on a set up for the duramax. I will be an owner as soon as they come out. They are not loud and you can turn them on at any time. Win-Win if you ask me.
