View Full Version : Duramax in the vans?

Does anybody know if GM is planning to put the Duramax in the full size vans? The wife and I are toying with the idea of a conversion van for trips and I know GM doesn't offer it right now, but it sure would be nice to have the longevity and fuel mileage of the diesel in one. So...has anybody heard anything 'bout that?

Discussion a month ago on the 5.0 (V6) being sighted in Detroit area in vans/burbs. Try a search for 5.0 Might be a 2004/5 release... rumor,,,, rumor,,,, rumor,,,,

Need one in my Pontiac Montana too!Seriously theres a big market out there if they get a Duramax in a Suburban or big van.It would be nice to see GM tap it before the other big two do.

I spoke to our GM commercial rep a few months ago and asked him that question. He said he had heard that it was scheduled for 06 but don't be suprised if it shows up in 04 or 05. He didn't know of any prototypes out there.

Guys, let's put this to rest right now. There are no plans to put the DMax in the Savana/Express. Every engine is accounted for b4 it leaves the plant. Rumors are just that, rumors. I am a commercial rep in the midwest and the subject comes up at every meeting we have. GM knows the public wants it but since when has that mattered?

Ford has the powerstroke in the E250 & E350 commercial vans and cutaways but I don't think they put them in a E150.

Ford also has the Excersion (longer suburban want-a-be) with the powerstroke in it but Ford is getting rid of it

I was fooling around on GM's site last week and you can still get a 6.5l in the 2500 and 3500 series Express vans. It's still better than a gas sucking monster that is usually stocked...

Maby the 6.6 duramax coms later this year in the chevy van 2500hd/3500 and the 5.0 duramax will com in the chevy van 1500/2500LD in 04 or 05. :rolleyes:
