View Full Version : injector pump gear alignment

I'm switching out engines in a 86 suburban. Had help from a 12 year old and the gear that drives the pump was removed. What is the procedure to align the pump gear with the timong gear? Is it dot to dot or more complicated? Any help would be appreciated.

Dot to Dot will work, then just install the injection pump, make sure the little pin on the injection pump goes into the elliptical hole on the gear, not the round one. Thats it!

What happens when you put it in the round hole? I think that's where I put it around a year ago. John

I think when you put it in the round hole not all three injection pump to gear bolts will line up and can be installed. If you got all three IP to gear bolts in than you got it in right.
