Hey Guys & Gals,

Looking to stock up on some fuel filters for me and my father-in-law for our Dmaxs. So far a price of 20 bucks each is the best price, but the filter is a FRAM. I'm aware that all the DMAX fuel filters are made by Parker/Racor...right?.... but still feel a little wierd about it. Also saw some for 28 bucks (better than the $40 plus from the dealer). I am interested in at least 10 so maybe a discount for quantity. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

JP

Heartbeat Hauler,

A forum member sent me a brand new Dmax Fram fuel filter to cut open for inspection, and it was identical to the OEM Racor filter. IIRC, it was Eric (dmaxalliTech) that sacrificed the new Fram. There are pics in my FILTER albums - click on the second link in my sig if you are interested.

The Dmax fuel filters are available from a number of vendors that support this site - Diesel Injection Services, Lubrication Specialist (Greg L.), and Kennedy Diesel to name a few.

mdrag,
Thanks for the response on the filters. Do you or would you recommend/use the FRAM filters and not feel wierd about it?

JP,

Based on the Dmax Fram fuel filter that I examined, I would not have a problem using it on my truck since its construction appeared identical to the Racor/OEM Dmax fuel filters that I have cut open for inspection.

At present, it is my understanding that there is only one source for the Dmax fuel filter (Racor), and these are re-badged as other brands (Fram, Carquest, Baldwin etc.). JEBar sent me a brand new Carquest Dmax fuel filter for inspection - and it was identical to the OEM/Racor/Fram.

However,I would NOT extend this confidence to the FRAM DMAX OIL FILTERS (http://community.webshots.com/album/61178762NfrhyW), which do NOT give me the warm fuzzies....

Check the ADVERTISER'S SECTION link at the top of the page for additional vendor info.

ON EDIT: Attempted to fix the link.

Fram?

No way! They ain't get'n any of my green.

Problem is, they are probably OK, for now. But will they tell you when they make the big switch? Bet they don't breathe a word....

By the time you find out they are making their own D'max filters, it'll be too late.

MTM Industrial (Oil Guard) in California has the OEM filters for $16 each when you get 6 or more. I bought from them last fall and even with the exchange on the US dollar and shipping costs they still cost me less than $29 each. That compares to the $65 each that the dealers here want.
(I will sell to anyone in Ontario if there is a request.) :D :D :D
