Do you need gauges when running the Predator on the 40 HP tune? No towing just around town driving.
If that's all your going to use then probably not. If your towing a heavy load then I would say yes.

I just drive it to and from work. Half city have highway.
Like BarryD said, for just around town driving on the 40hp tune, most likely not.
I had a Predator tune in my '03 LB7 .. Personally, I couldnt take it staying on the 40hp tune, I experimented with all 4. I got my best mileage on the 60hp setting but you would want the gauges then, heat can build fast when you are excellerating quickly. Like getting onto a freeway or passing somebody. Gauges would give you a peace of mind knowing you are well within safe EGT's.
My Predator can easily run the EGTs over 1,400 on the long, steep grades. This is only when towing. Without towing, I haven't seen any problems [high EGTs] on any hills. From what I hear, the Predator does run a bit hotter than the other boxes. The new program (latest?) was supposed to address this but I don't notice any changes in EGT with the new program. The new program did solve the overboost/limp home problem.
