The new mirrors are sweet, 'bout time Chevy put some mirrors on the trucks that can really be used to see what your towing. They have to be pulled out manually but the vision is well worth the small effort. They allow great visibility.

Also, RPM's at 65mph? My first impressions are terrific! Excellent power throughout the power band. Take off and passing speed power are far better than my old LB7 even with my 40hp tune installed. The 6spd tranny is smooth and I love the new manual shift selector, it will be very handy to have while towing on grades and exiting freeways with a load. I only have 160 miles on the truck so havent had a chance to verify mileage but my DIC is reporting about 13.0mpg city driving. Not sure at this point what the RPM's are on the highway as I havent had much time to drive highway speeds yet, I most likely will give it a go this weekend and report back here then.

All in all, my first impressions are stunning. The LBZ has great power and the 6spd is smooth. I am glad I waited for the LBZ to enter production.

Rcher,

If you're interested, I have some VERY nice running boards that might work/look nice that go in front of the rear wheels. They are extremely nice for loading and unloading things in the box. They are LaVerne Stainless Steels, I had a dually '02 for about two months, traded for an '03 SRW. I also have the dually stainless steel mud flaps for it. Make me an offer!

The mirrors will mount (bolt up) to all of the 2001 and up trucks. There is a wiring change that took place on the 2003 models. You may have to do some splicing or an adapter to use the power tilt and pan and heat functions. There is a multiplexer adapter for using the older style 2001-2002 harness with the newer mirrors, but I don't know if anyone makes an adapter to put the new mirrors on an older truck. Someone like morepower might be able to tell you what your options are.
You might look into something like Shafenecker TTT mirrors. I upgraded to a set from my other aftermarkets, and the Shefenecker's are much better. I think they are probably on par with the new 2006 mirrors, maybe even a little better. And may even cost less than GM's. And the wire harness will plug right up to your's. There are some other post's on this subject under the accessories page.
Did you find your oil leak that you had posted about before? I didn't see an update. Was wondering what you found?
I guess we are really got off of the subject for this page, but anyway for rcher. I don't think you will be happy with the truck in the long run so just send it to me and I'll suffer with it instead of you! And besides it matches the color of our trailers. We just want to help you out! "Ha Ha" Just kidding. If I could live with another"BIG $$$ PAYMENT for four or more years we would buy a new one, but ours is almost paid for and it still runs and feels and looks like a new truck.60,000 miles and counting. Maybe down the road we will go in debt again. Enjoy that new truck and let us know how it does and what kind of milage you are getting. And it is a nice looking truck. A set of full fiberglass running boards painted white to match and stainless steel front and rear mud flaps would really set it off. Enjoy!

I didn't have my glasses on when I looked at the picture the first time. I think your chrome nerf bars look great on your truck. And they are easier to keep looking nice. I have the fiberglass boards and I painted them to match, but I have to sand and repaint them every couple of years or they start looking ratty. We are always in some muddy or dusty rodeo arena or parked in the roughstock area and the grandkids step all over them and not on the treads. This year when I repainted them I cut out Aluminum diamond plate steps instead of the Black rubber treads that would never stay glued for more than six months.

Hey Cowboy Bill, what a nice offer ;) How mucgh do you pay for the mine ??? Now, may people told me to endure smaller leakages of oil of those trucks..... So , I will observe how the situation develops. If I woul live in the USA I wouldn't worry about any problems, but here in Germany you are alone.... Nobody has experience with those engines. Situation is different with the Cummins.... these engines are frequent in agrcultural machines etc. And Daimler-Chrysler can organize all spares. But GM :-(((

You might find a mechanic stationed there in the military that works on the D/Max's I think the military sometimes uses these pickups for utility vehicles. Just a thought.
As far as service goes, sometimes some of the dealers here aren't much help either. Good Luck.
