Dan Herr,

The factory shop manuals can be purchased at the HELM INC. WEBSITE (http://www.helminc.com/helm/homepage.asp?r=). IIRC, the 2001 service manuals were approx $120 plus S/H. This was for a (5) volume set. These are the same manuals used by the dealer's service departments.

The manuals are also available on a CD, but are more expensive. You may be able to find used CD's on eBay.

I just purchased the Helms manuals for my 2002 D/A.A word of warning,if replacing a part on the engine such as the water pump, all it shows you is how to remove and replace it from an engine thats sitting by its self. You have to figure out for yourself which items have to be removed to efficently do the job.I believe the manuals the service departments get might be a bit more in depth but I could be wrong. The manuals are still worth the $126.95 I paid and no I have not read all five volumes yet!

I contacted Helm. 1996-2004 CD is $300; 2004 paper version is $120 - will not be available until June. See emails below for further:

This paper version is out of stock:
$120.00 GMT04CK8PU 2004 Sivlerado, Sierra, and Sierra Denali CK8-Platform Service Manual Set
This manual will not be available until late June.

Is there a paper version available?

Certainly doesn't make sense that the CD would be 3x as much as the paper version. A forest for a paper manualfor a small cost, or recycled plastic for a fortune! Humpf!
