I would like to know if you can over fill the fuel cell such as on a gas truck. i know if you over fill a gas truck you can saturate the charcoal canister and waste it.

Same here. Fill'er till the foam settles and top it off. Been doing it for over 80K on my '01, and forever on the others.
The Diesels don't have a charcoal canister, or anything that isn't "fuel friendly" in the venting system.

I log ever oz of fluid that goes in my truck, to be sure I get a good fill up I always fill it up to the top of the neck. One thing to consider is that if you were going to park somewhere as soon as you filled up without driving to lower the fuel level some it may pressure up due to the fuel warming up in warm weather, but thats probably not worth mentioning this time of the year.
