When towing my 4-place snowmobile trailer on the highway I feel that the Tow Houl keeps the rpm's too high. Then second I let up on the pedal it holds me back a little.
Trailer is 5,000lbs.loaded.

Should I leave it on for shut it off?

T/H is really only necessary when running at 75% of GCVWR or higher. T/H can also be used to lower transmission temperatures if that ever becomes an issue (I've never seen above 210). T/H is also nice when descending a twisty grade, whether loaded heavy or light. Requires a lot less use of the truck's brakes.

Otherwise, I rarely use T/H (except at the track). ;)

Tow/haul is also nice in my 01 when pulling my 5er on windy roads at speeds b/t 45 & 65mph to keep it from shifting back & forth b/t 4th & o'drive.Helps keep it in 4th. smile.gif

I always use tow/haul when I'm pulling our 5500-6000 lb. TT. I like to leave it in cruise, and T/H lets me go up and down some pretty good hills without a lot of shifting.

I tow a 8500+ lb travel trailer and I maily use the T/H feature for the engine braking. I normally tow between 60-70 mph so it shifts into overdrive no problem. However, if I am not towing over 60 mph, I leave it off so that the transmission will shift into overdrive at a slower speed.

I routinely tow heavy and light, and use T/H often. Living/driving in CA, trailering speed limit is 55 MPH, even on the interstate. I generally "cruise" at about 60. At 60, the tranny won't shift into OD (5th) with T/H engaged. I get up to speed in T/H, bump the button (T/H off), tranny upshifts, then I bump the button again (T/H on). It's an extra step, but works well for me.

I've used T/H when going up and down steep terrain. The breaking action by the transmission is great when going down hill. When pulling the 10K 5er, I use it at low speeds and when driving in populated stop and go traffic. On the road, I leave it off and use cruise when on relatively flat roads.
