At first I thought it was me, but now there are witnesses. My 2003 3500 DMax has done this 5-6 times in the last month. The symptoms are:
1. Crank engine (can't remember if it only does it on warm or cold starts or both).
2. Put in drive (it's an automatic).
3. While idling out of parking spot with foot on brake, the engine acts like some one "patted" the accelerator. Since it's in gear, it lurches forward (glad my foot is on the brake).

At first I thought it was a case of a big foot hitting both pedals somehow. But, this afternoon, my foot was only on the brake. Does anybody know what's causing this? To my knowledge (bought used), my truck is completely stock mechanically (other than the tank in the bed).

This is getting a little scary.

I seem to have a similar problem on my 2002. Only when its being cranked after being completely cool. The only difference is I get a clunk in the rear-end like I've got a broken u-joint or major slack in the driveline. It only does it the 1st time you go into drive, even after it warms a bit. I'm clueless.
