To add another perspective to the continuing debate on HOW BIG IS TOO BIG? for a diesel exhaust system:

For marine applications, the Cummins "B" engine, rated at 330 HP (similar to the high output engine in the Dodge Ram) REQUIRES a 6" minimum exhaust, or the warranty is not valid. And this is for water-cooled exhaust, occupying less space than hot exhaust.

see http://www.gce.cummins.com/mce/mce_enginepages/330Bpage.htm

New product for Kennedy - 6" exhaust systems for GM Duramax trucks ! ! !
