Top Speed Duramax

I just got a 2006 Duramax with Allison, Top speed is 95 mph. Former dodge with 6 cylinder Cummings would run away from Chevy after (5. Why is this.

Top speed is limited by the computer. The main reason is the tires. I actually saw a truck on a chassis dyno that had this limit removed -- and trust me -- you dont want to go faster with the stock tires or tires that are not speed rated.

The stock tires had visual "resonance" going on at those speeds and it made me nervous watching it on the dyno.

There are aftermarket performance tuners that remove the speed limiter...

One that come to mind is the Predator.

Chris There WILL BE devices to do this. Just gonna be a bit before they release as the new Bosch ECM will require a fresh start for the aftermarket in many ways...
