Well ive decided to go with a used truck and i think I found what im looking for. Its a 03 GMC 2500 CC 4x4 slt. It has 40k miles and appears like its never worked hard. Its all original. Dealer is asking $32k for it.

Question: Is there anything to look out for on this year or is it a good one? What would be a good price for it?

Ive put alot of miles on psd's and cummins but I want to go with a gmc for my next truck.

For reference, I bought a 2003 2500 D/A CC LB 4x4, new tires, 35k miles on it, ranch hand grille front & rear bumper, nerf bars, tool box in June for $30500. I tried to get the price down more, but they gave me $7500 trade on my 97 C3500 CC w/ 125k on it, so I felt like it was fair. They threw in some black diamond plate bed rail caps, and installed my 5th wheel hitch. Truck's original owner was an employee at the dealership, and they had done all of the service, waranty and recall work. Occasionally I wish I'd been able to get the price down a bit more, but I love the truck.

Personally, I'd offer them 28K and be ready to walk out the door. If you really want the truck, $29,500 would be my TOP dollar if the truck is really clean and was well maintained.

Just my opinion.

Mine has 40k It was built in May 2003 I took delivery in July 2003.I have had only one problem with it. The right rear seat belt would lock-up; fixed on warranty. I have had all recall work done to it and have no add-on mods. I get around 21-22mpg I change the air & trans filters at 15k and grease front-end, the engine oil & filter at 7500. It's been a great truck.
O.K. enough bragging....
I would try to get the price under 30k. With diesel going through the roof, and in some cases well above gas prices, the market for these trucks will fall. The lower your payment the easier it will be to swallow $4.00+ fuel.

October Black Book (used by Dealers)Average Retail is $23,725, plus $5,300 for the DuraMax, and minus $425 for Miles. That yields and average Retail price of $28,600. Clean Retail is $26,175+$5300-$875= $30,600. We rarely use clean as an asking price.

Traditionally, the DuraMax trucks would command a premium due to supply and demand, but with the "Employee Price for Everyone" Promotion this summer Late model vehicle values have plummeted. I don't think some of the internet used vehicles values have caught up yet. Black Book is a weekly publication that uses actual auction reports and dealer reports to establish values.

Sounds high, but if it is exactly what you want and you plan on keeping it a long time, do your research and work them for their best price.

I bought my 03 in march for 32K it is only an extended cab not a crew but it is an LT 4x4 with everything and it had 9500 miles on it.

I love it the only complaint I have is there is a squeak somewhere inside when driving on rough streches of interstate.

I was figuring for $35 for my 2005 with mid 20k miles IF I took most of the goodies off, and $40k with everything...

ZDPDV "I love it the only complaint I have is there is a squeak somewhere inside when driving on rough streches of interstate"

Just brought my 03 in for a bad sqeek. It was in the back door and it had to be readjusted. I have an extended cab not the crew. Got on my nerves enough to bring it in.
