Well I finally had occasion to pull the backhoe with the TST. I started out at power level 4 and Tq. enhancement of three. It pulled much harder than stock! The interesting thing is that the EGT's were only slightly higher than stock. I ended up at a power setting of 5 and a Tq enhancement of 5. EGT's would hit about 1250 and then the tranny would downshift and EGT's would drop, so 1250 was the highest I saw.
I weighed about 28,000, the temp was around 93 or so. The Tranny temp ran one notch below 200 whether I towed in forth or fifth. It crept up to between the last notch and 200 in town stop light to stop light, but never even reached 200.
I had some fun with both a Kenworth and a Ford power smoke. The KW said he weighed about 50,000 and was real surprised when I walked away from him at a stop light. The Ferd was pulling an aluminum horse trailer with three horses. We were going up a hill when the speed limit went from 45 to 65, I could tell he was in it from the smoke he was blowing. I moved over in to the left lane and passed him easily with 20,000 lbs of trailer and backhoe. It wasn't a 6.0, it was a newer truck though and I was surprised he had a Banks emblem under the power smoke badge.
I got 9.1 MPG total and am real happy with that. With the TST this thing pulls like a Demon.
Only one thing happened and I can't figure it out. After I passed the Ferd I backed out of it to let it shift into 5th and it lost power for about 5 sec or so. No smoke no rattle, no surging or anything, it just wouldn't pull more than about 1/4 throttle. EGT's were only about 400, it only lasted about 5 sec and has run fine ever sense.
