Alternator/Generator

Anyone else had an alternator go out ? It appears mine is dust at 38k miles :(

Its either that or the voltage regulator.. which I ASSume is not singly replaceable... ??

The Volt meter shows 11v or so.. and the charge light comes on.. then if I raise the rpms it will go to normal 14v ... then it will suddenly go to 16v and the light will come on again.. then it will go back to normal and stay normal for a long time.. then suddenly lose charge again..

FWIW this is on a 2002 DA...

Sounds like a loose connection. The regulators are solid state and inside the alternator. They usually work right or not at all. Later! Lone Eagle tongue.gif

Thanks Lone Eagle... I ordered a new generator for the truck...

This morning its working fine... probably replace it anyway... so I don't end up walking smile.gif
