View Full Version : Air Conditioner Off but Why Water Dripping?

We just got back from a short trip to Central California
hills with our 22 foot trailer. Some fairly decent hills,
but nothing big. We pulled over for a quick pit stop and
I noticed some fluid coming out under the truck below the
right in front of the passenger side.

Panic! Was my new secondary fuel filter installed
leaking? No, it was water. Lift the hood and water is
draining from the bottom of the AC condenser, that canister
on the fire wall covered in aluminum foil.

The only problem was that I *DIDN'T* have the AC on. Any
thoughts as to what might be going on?

You sure it was coming from that?? Right under it there is a small rubber drain hose. This hose drains the condensation from the box around the A/C unit. Even without the A/C system running you could still accumulate moisture in this unit that would drain out the hose. This is a good thing since if it wasn't draining it would eventually run out inside the cab and land on the S.O. toes!!

Larry.....

Right on! I got the rubber drain located.
That was it. Thanks so much :D

56Nomad,

Side note, I think your AC cycles intermitently when the defroster setting is chosen even with heater running.

The A/C will also cycle when you select Recirc. It minimizes mold possiblilities and keeps the windows from fogging due to very little fresh air.
