I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but here I go:
My last truck was a 2000 Chevy Ext Cab, Z71. I put 24,000 miles on it and the truck was a tight the day I turned it back in as it was the day I brought it home.
Now with my 2002 GMC Crew Cab 2500 HD with the Duramax, and only 10,000 miles, I have more creaks and rattles than in my old truck. Is this normal? Will the HD be more prone to this than the 1500's?
I really do not want to take it back to the dealer and complain if this is normal.
What have the rest of you out there expirenced with your trucks?
Thanks!

45K and not a squeak, rattle, or creek. There is an occasional whine in the passenger seat area.
28kkm and not a sound. The only squeaks I hear comes from other cars and trucks trying to follow me up the hills.

Not a squeak or rattle. Just a very slight vibe in the steerinmg wheel, but that's the gearbox bearing. The only thing I hear is loose stuff in the glovebox and door pockets and the sound of other cars I pass.

I traded in a 2001 Ext Cab SB Z-71 for my CC, SB, 2500 HD DMax. I do notice more clunks and thwunks in the DMax, but that is due to the heavy duty nature of the components.
Conversely, I am currently driving a rental (scracthed my DMax at the gunshow last Sat and am getting it fixed) truck--a 1500 2WD Ext Cab SB with the 4.8. Thsi truck has 14,000 mile son it, and itr rattles and has a "spongy" ride.

25,000 miles on a 10 month old D/A 2500HD CC 4X4, with 18,000 of it in Southern Mexico and Guatemala on rough roads at what some would call excessive speeds including over 2,000 miles of 4X4 off road in the jungle in what is usually heavy (3" to 6") dust sometimes turned to mud - not a rattle, squeak, or any noise except the occasional screams from the passenger seats ( I choose to believe they are screams of delight). My last GMC 4X4 CC 6.5 went 190,000 miles before the body and running gear just about fell off the chassis after such use. The 2002 chassis works so well it might go 500,000 miles. I cannot believe how well this truck has performed and how well the mechanical and structural integrity has held up - so far, very good! After one 200 mile 4WD round trip run in mud to a isolated chichlero camp in the Peten Jungle, the undercarriage and body cavaties underneath were so packed with mud, it took two local car washers 6 hours to clean and wash it out - very expensive at $10 US. Now if it only came with optional wings...............

My truck will creak and groan sometimes. I especially hate the rear barke noise when backing.
