I am currently in the process of changing out my lift pump and am wondering if I should wire a relay into the circuit to remove the load from the OPS (I see a lot of people have done that)or should I leave the wiring in the stock configuration. Is it even necessary on, say a 99 K2500 or did they address this problem? I have the relay, wire and solder ready to go just in case.

Thanks,

Mark

96 and up already has a relay ,it's on left side undrerhood
inside the black cover, right by left hood hinge...
It is controlled by PCM module,
There is a back up circuit from the OP switch
which will power pump if relay fails,
( when oil pressure comes up power applied to
pump )
Also there is a " open " connector in harness
between Fuse/relay box and firewall left side,
it can be jumpered to 12V to run pump for test/bleed system.. goes through normal closed contacts
of pump relay.
