View Full Version : Question - Any updates on the TCC cheap lockup?

Got gauges and Pillar Pod on order, so it's time to decide on doing the 'Cheap way to get TCC to lock up" resistor switch.

What are the latest experiences from those that have done this? I may not be towing anything again for a few years, so this would be for highway lockups, and getting over Homestake pass, etc.

Is it worth the effort? ie - keeping track if it's switched on / off when speed varies, vs throwing codes and harder shifts? Thanks, again.

With resister switched in, It will cause
full pressure shifts, Not Good .....

I will only use my Cheap Switch when manually
shifting: IE Third Gear Selected above
2nd down shift speed, and Ditto for 2nd.to 1st.
To prevent " Harsh Down/up Shifts.Use for(constant
speed hill climbs )

Note: not much gained for 4th gear use as
TCC will not lock up below 50 (3.73 gears )
and will down shift with only part throttle
operation bellow 60.

Above 60mph not much change Sw On or off.

Thanks RJ - I may pass on wiring that in for now, although even un-loaded, it would be nice for going over the passes out here.

Appreciate the update! Enjoy the Day!
