Goodyear Belt part #

I heard that replacing the serpentine belt with a Goodyear gatorback belt stops the squeak, screeh heard when the truck is shut off, Has anyone done this and did it help, And what part number was the belt because the guy at the parts store couldnt find a part number for it.

Why are the belts shorter and longer instead of the same as oe belt ?

I would assume Goodyear doesn't make the correct length belt for our application. The 5mm longer/shorter belts are the ones that come closest to the OEM length.

5mm difference isn't that much, and the tensioner will easily be able to compensate for it.

Goodyear does not make the exact length belt. Based on the info I was given, it is better to go shorter then longer. 5mm does not make a difference.

With regards to running the shorter belt, I whole heartedly agree!! In theory, it should put a slight bit more tension on the belt to help alleviate the dreaded "belt check" every time the engine is shut off....

Gang, just a heads up here. I ordered a #4061112 Gatorback belt for my truck, and tried to install it tonight after work. The belt is too short for my '01. :mad:

So.... I'm reordering the # 4061115 belt tomorrow. Hopefully that one fits, otherwise I'll have a fit... :(

I'll post back with the results next Monday or Tuesday when the big brown truck makes a stop...

I have tried numerous times to get a serpentine belt in the states and the Toronto area, but no one stocks them,
Had to go to GM to order one, there are 2 belt sizes the one I ordered is for the 105 amp alternator (#97300653 original belt number)the other belt size is for the 140amp alternator.$45 canadian.

Belt has never squeaked.

Jeff, I ordered the #4061112 belt thru Summit Racing- www.summitracing.com. It cost $31.39.

#4061115 is on backorder. It's a cheaper belt too- $19.99. I'm going to do some more digging and see what I can find. I'm also going to double check the cross reference between the OEM GM belt and the Goodyear, just to be sure.

Northern Auto Parts (a Diesel Page advertiser) is also a Goodyear belt dealer- www.naparts.com . If Summit comes up dry with the 1115 belt, Northern gets the call... Hopefully they can hook me (us) up.

The # 4061115 is the correct belt for the '01 Dmax with a 140 amp alternator.... I installed mine tonight, and the Gatorback runs MUCH quieter than the OEM belt. Time will tell if the "belt check" at shutdown and AC compressor engagement is gone for good. Hopefully it is!!
