I do mine with Mobil 1 Delvac at 5000 miles. It comes out looking pretty good.

On the other hand, oil is cheap and engines are expensive.

HD-Nate, I hope you mean DELVAC-1 not Mobil-1, since Mobil-1 is not rated for diesel use. Anyhoo, I haven't used Delvac-1 yet (will try some next year after I go through my inventory of other lubricants). But I have been doing regular anlysis of my oil. I've been changing at 7,500 miles. The results on non-synthetics (Delvac-1300, Rotella-T 15W40) have still been good at that mileage, but showing a little breakdown in the oil. With the Rotella-T 5W40 semi-synthetic it was showing no degredation at 7,500. With good filtration and a good synthetic (which Delvac-1 certainly qualifies) you should be able to go 10,000 with no concern at all. Analysis is important to "baseline" your engine and to keep an eye on your oil, though.

Delvac -1 .. every 4-6,000 miles. I seem to stretch it in the winter just because it's a driveway job for me.

Mobil-1 (http://www.mobil1.com) has a CF (Diesel) rating but we need CH-4 or CI-4 for the Duramax.

Nate,

Are you running any "extra" filtration on the DMax or just a standard ZuZu filter? I have been running Tella @ 100 to 150 hours drains. The most I have run on one change is 5k. Motor has 1,000 hours @ 23k. I picked up a six-pack of Mobil-1 Delvac for 92.42 today. :D

Hey Guys-

A newbie member I am but just to reply to the thread that Mobil 1 is CF rated (CF-4) and we need CH or CI rated oils. Guys CF rating is a obsolete spec...its replaced by CH which was replaced by CI-4 recently. Just my 2 cents worth....

CF-4 is diesel fleet rated....I got this info from THe SOCO Group and GP Resources here in Cali which are lub distributors so they better know what they are talking bout...

Have a good one! :D
