2003 with 30,000miles and it began having hard starting problems. Took it in and they are replacing all of the injectors. They said that there was a bulletin on this issue but gave no details. Anyone here of any notices for injectors ?

Can this be defined:
"New Strategy for High Fuel Return Rates"
What exactly are the changes and should I expect any improvements in gas mileage and/or performance ?
The above is a TSB that GM came out with several months ago. GM is having "problems" with their injectors in the LB7 engines. There are reported injector body cracks and "gumming up" of solenoid shafts. (Several people on the forum know substantially more than this)
I personally believe that GM realized they have a problem and maybe they have a newer design injector that will fix the problem (Several people on the forum know substantially more than this). So when a truck comes in for an injector problem, they just replace all of them.
In some respects, consider yourself lucky. You get eight new injectors of (hopefully) an improved design. Oh, an someday, maybe those that are "in the know" will share the information with everyone!!

Is this something I can expect to happen to my '03 or is this a sporatic issue?

Injectors replaced and it runs much better now. Seems to have a bit more power and runs much smoother with easy starting.
Would using my "Juice" have anything to do with faulty injectors? I'm kinda nervous now about taking care of my new injectors.

I'm wondering the same thing as you Ron....
My 03 has 20kmi and I had rough idle, smoke on hard acceleration. They just replaced all 8 injectors.
I have been running a PRE/OEM Raycor 2micron fuel filter and Stanadyne additive since day one.
OEM filter was replaced at 14k, Raycor pre/oem at 11k as reccommended.
I hope these are better injectors but don't think so! Other than gas prices, Im beggiining to wish I went for the 8.1 gasser. The fuel system is a big problem and GM hasn't got it all worked out yet.
The redesigned Duramax with easy to change injectors is proof of this!
Had all 8 injectors replaced in August (30,000 miles ago) and it's in the shop again in NJ. with another injector replacement. I have the PRE-OEM 2m filter and use a good supplement.
My truck is an '02 with new injector part numbers and 98,000 miles. I'd just taken it in for an idle problem and coolant smell in the cab. No mods except for the air and fuel filters.
Anybody know how long this new injector will be warranted? How about the eight (seven remaining) injectors from last August?

Shouldn't they be replacing all of the injectors. I think the new policy is to that.

I just read another post "Burried Injectors" on this page and john deere has a 300,000 mile warranty. You or anyone else heard this?

I just got a letter from Chevy Recall. They are admitting to "some problems with the injectors" and in special instances they will replace all 8 at once. But they clearly say that it is NOT a recall. I have a 2001 with 28k on it and have had Chevy replace four injectors, one at a time. I have called 1-800-ChevyUSA and had case file after case file. They finally gave me full warranty coverage of the entire motor and necessary operating components to 100,000 no deductible. I just had to take my truck in for 18 SES lights on one 400 mile road trip and now they are supposed to give me 8 new injectors, and a control module.
Best of luck

I got a similar letter a few weeks ago, only mine is 200K or 7 years, no charge on related injectors, pump, rail, all fuel system.
No problems yet. Only 34K

MaxACL, What if anything became of the coolant smell in cab? I had the same smell last week -- just got hot here -- and be dammed if I could find the source myself. It does not seem to be losing coolant at this point.
Thanks
Al
Al,
Don't know the answer to your question as I'm in Kuwait for another week or so. The dealer is in NJ and has had the truck for.... 2 months? I called him last week and he'd just got the adapter and the injectors are due in. (Sure miss my truck!)
I'd seen somewhere about the coolant smell in the cab and if I remember right, it was injector problems causing it. Well I have 99,000 miles, rough idleing and SES lights flashing at me so I took it in. (Sure miss my truck!)
If I were still hauling trailers for a living, I'd be SOL. I love my truck, especially the ZF-6 but I sure wish these problems would go away. (Sure miss my truck!)
By the way, I filled the tank on a little Opel rental in Spain last week and it cost $39.00 US. Your $2.00/gal aint all that bad. ;)
Mike
By the way, Al.
I forgot to add that my injectors were replaced last Aug and twice, after I hit the road, the "Low Coolant" light came on. The tank showed normal and it was after working hours so I pressed on. Days later the tank level did go down slightly and I topped it off and once in a while it shows low again. Hope the techie didn't forget to put a plug in somewhere.

MaxACL,
Somehow I get the impression YOU MISS YOUR TRUCK tongue.gif
Thanks for the info, mine has only 32,000 miles on it at this point. I will run a seach and see what else I can come up with.
Absolute best of luck over there.

My '01 is in the shop now getting 8 injectors. I was told by the service rep that they were installing an "improved design just released by GM."
Not sure if i can verify this, but do hope it is true.
