Any thoughts on glow plug controller brands?

Nice truck!
Wow, with a 2.73 rear axle and 4 speed auto, that rig should be a real fuel mizer. Any idea on what MPG's you're pulling down yet?
I used to have a square body 3/4 ton with a 6.2L, 4 speed auto, and 4.10 rear axle, and I could pull down 17 - 18 mpg all day long. I can't imagine what you could achieve with a 2.73, although I'm sure it bogs down pretty easy in overdrive.

Thank you. Yes it is a sloth on hills for sure but it is capable for the light duty homeowner use I had in mind when I was truck shopping. It has a laundry list of issues I am working through so I haven’t driven it too much yet. I did manage to check fuel mileage once so far and it came back at 40mpg. That seems magical and too good to be true. When I get it roadworthy for daily use I plan to check it several more times and get an accurate number over a longer distance and multiple fill ups.
Yeah, 40 mpg is not realistic. Probably mid to upper 20's will be more likely.

We owned a 1986 Chevy 2500 Burb 4x4 with the 6.2
It was near new when we bought it and on a trip to southern California from NW Oregon down I 5 we managed 26 mpg on one leg of the trip.
Nothing below 20 though.
22-26 HWY is quite normal if things are in good shape
